What is the difference between competitive and regular wave?

Only those registered in the competitive wave are eligible to win prizes. The competitive wave will the first wave to depart for the long (8am) and the short races (9am) respectively. It is entirely at the participants discretion which wave they wish to compete in; this is selected during the registration process.
