Testimonial – Billy Orr

I’ve once again entered FEARmanagh, and to all other adventure racers out there….Fear not…just enter! This is quite simply a fantastic event which is exceptionally well organised on a course that is both challenging and breathtaking in equal measures.
For me the great appeal of adventure racing is that whilst the disciplines of running, cycling, and kayaking remain constant, no two courses are the same. And trust me as a participant in this race since its inception three year ago FEARmanagh is definitely different, and whether you opt for the 74K or 35K route you’ll not be disappointed.
You can read elsewhere about the various stages that comprise the two race distances, there are 9 stages alone in the 74K event. Each of these stages will have different challenges for each racer; some will relish cycling on the rural roads of Fermanagh, whilst others will delight in the “Wee Dog Jog” and the Blackslee Trail run. For me the 1000 foot decent of the Magho Cliff Challenge to the kayaking section on Lough Erne, and the return accent to the top of the cliff are worth the entry fee alone. But trust me not everyone will agree with my favourite part of the race!
The organisation of this event is second to none. All the organisers, volunteers, and marshals are extremely well informed, friendly and helpful, and collectively they take great care of all the racers.
If you’re looking for a race that’s different, challenging, yet so enjoyable, then FEARmanagh will give you that…… plus a lot more!
